I HAVE A DREAM! THE WARDROBE WITH QUILTED POUFFE IN THE MIDDLE, WITH SHOES STANDING IN ROWS LIKE IN “SEX IN THE CITY”!
When I get in I see all my clothes, no need to look for anything. There is a dressing table with well-lit mirror and jewelry within reach. Best location would be next to the bathroom, with a window or good lighting as close to daylight as possible. Additionally, big mirrors and soft carpet.
I have measured length of client’s dresses recently, to check at what height hangers should be placed. Afterwards, we have measured skirts, jackets, mantles and trousers. The wardrobe was perfect! I can highly recommend this method. Some space for long mantles and dresses is needed, even if there is only few of them. Nobody wants a creased dress from the bottom of the wardrobe.
Should it be closed or open wardrobe? Sliding doors or hinged wardrobe doors? How to illuminate the wardrobe?
The one from my dreams will have hinged doors, so clothes don’t get dusty. According to my preferences door will be glazed, classically opened. While opening it, light turns on. Moreover, poles will have LED strips at the bottom, so the hanging clothes will be illuminated well. Another option is ready to assembly wardrobe lighting, which can be installed by yourself to any kind of wardrobe. It has a built-in battery glowing minimum 25 000 hours. Such elements can be found in markets with lighting and interior equipment.
The window would guarantee best ventilation. If there is no window in a wardrobe, it is worth installing a mechanical fan connected to the ventilation shaft – the same as in the bathroom.
Ironing board is very useful in the wardrobe, as clothes are at hand. Permanently installed, tilted away from the wall, would be always ready to use. From own experience, I can highly recommend steam ironing device. These kind of devices are perfect also for very delicate fabrics, they don’t damage silk and clothes can be ironed while still being placed on a hanger.
There is a large selection of wardrobes’ equipment. Producers offer whole sets of shelves, bars, doors and drawers. Doors can be finished with various materials such as wood, steel, ceramic or soft upholstery. Poliform, B&B Italia and Raumplus are the wardrobes’ producers, which I personally like. They are Mercedes in their category and I treat them as an inspiration. IKEA is getting inspired also by the “best in class” producers. Thanks to it we can find there various elements of wardrobe equipment, such as glazed shelves and glass drawer fronts, which are my favorites.
Personally, I prefer hanging thick cotton curtain, instead of the door, which protects clothes from dust and gives softness to the bedroom. Additionally, curtains are the element improving acoustics, so music sounds warmer.
